Animal Crossing

GameCube (2002)

Being in the US, this is the first Animal Crossing game I played, and it left a lasting impression. Even the error screens have so much style and character to them. The saving error message is delivered by a random villager (maybe a random villager from your town? I’m not sure) so there are many variations. It’d be interesting to revisit this and see if the message itself changes based on the randomly selected villager’s personality. As a fun fact, you can safely take the disk out of the console after loading into the game, because the whole ROM fits in memory. (Since it was originally an N64 game, but was released for GameCube in the US.)
